2019 Kitchen Trends Expected to be Popular

If you are considering updating your kitchen, you may be wondering what trends are tipped to be on-trend in 2019. We’ve taken a look at everything from door handles to sinks…

CABINET HANDLES: in-the-door handles

The minimal and streamlined frontage to kitchen cabinets is still being promised as the look to opt for in a kitchen in the coming months. Either opt for minimal, hidden handles or cut into the door handles that mean the frontage of your kitchen cabinets are both flat and minimal.

KITCHEN SINK: a stylish work centre

We use the kitchen sink without much of a second thought but designers are bringing a whole new edge to it, making it into its own mini-workstation. From embossed sinks to ones with integrated cutting boards and more, the kitchen sink will be the focus of kitchen design in the coming months.

LIGHTING: pendant lights

The industrial style is hanging around, something that many people will welcome and one component that will still benefit from the industrial look will be the kitchen light. Keeping fuss and clutter to a minimum in the kitchen is clearly beneficial making the industrial styled pendant light the ideal choice.

STORAGE: open shelving

A common feature in the rustic kitchen, open shelving is making its way into all styles of kitchen. It can be accessible storage with items and foodstuffs within easy reach, one reason why it is so popular. It is also a means of adding detail to a kitchen, with many homeowners clustering together jars of pulses and other foodstuffs to create a colour display.

NICE TOUCH: indoor herb garden

Kitchen designers have reintroduced some nice touches, especially for the enthusiastic cook. It comes in the shape of an indoor kitchen herb garden.

METALLIC ACCENTS: gold and copper

Every room is lifted with the addition of metallic tones and for the last few years, we have opted for silver or chrome finish. Brass made a significant impact on interior design in the last few years and is a finish that is still popular. In the kitchen, the chosen metallic finish is copper. Gold is also making a showing too, and not just in the kitchen…

COLOUR: go bright

Colours have been muted in recent years and perhaps with the turbulent times we are currently living in, and if you still fancy grey then you’ll still be in good company. But if you fancy colour, then you also have plenty of choice. Rich, creamy colours are top of the list – think coral, sunshine yellow, mid-blue and sugar pink – or if you want darker colours, it seems that dark, earthy green isn’t going anywhere yet, especially with copper or gold finish.

TILING: Colour or shape

Again, the choice of tile colour is vibrant block colours or better still, opt for patterned tiles. If you are struggling to make a colour choice thinking it will become too dated, too quickly, opt for shaped tiles instead. Geometric tiling is still hanging around for 2019 but the tiling trend that looks set to make an impact are fish scale tiles.

The kitchen is the heart of the home and so no wonder that we work with so many customers to create stylish kitchens in their homes. Why not call us for more information and to arrange a free quote on 0141 638 3335?
