Landscaping a property with an attractive and secure garden wall can transform your property. If you have a patio or decking area, then a garden wall will protect it from the elements and make it look tidy and well-manicured.

When considering laying your own foundations for the garden walls, it's good to be aware of some of the pitfalls involved that might lead to complications further down the line. For example, if you want to build them on top of existing foundations that are not level, don't forget to take the time and effort to ensure they are levelled before laying any concrete.

Likewise, if you are considering using wooden posts as a base for your new garden walls, be sure they are set firmly in the ground with lots of concrete. In the same way, if you want to use a supporting wall for them to be built on, ensure it is in good repair and properly maintained before building onto it.

With regards to the actual process of laying the foundations, there are many ways that you can go about this. One method would be to firstly dig a trench in the ground where you want your garden walls to be located.

This makes it easier for any root infrastructure to be taken down if necessary before laying the foundations and planting new growth around the area. It's also a good way of making sure that no weeds are growing near the base of the wall foundation, which will make them difficult to remove when they try to grow back through as well as making the process of planting in new plants around the garden wall more difficult and time-consuming.
