The Best Winter Home Improvement Projects

The assumption is that when the chill of winter arrives home improvements take a back seat until the spring. But this isn’t the case. There are still plenty of home improvements that you can complete over the winter months.

Windows

If you have single-paned or ill-fitting windows in your home there is no reason why you should wait to get rid of the draughty windows. However, if you want to wait until spring you shouldn’t miss out on improving energy efficiency. As well as draught exclusion strips, adding heavier weight curtains to the windows will also help.

Did you know…?

New windows can be fitted quickly and easily, and usually within a day too, depending on the number being replaced. Home improvements companies will often be quieter in winter and so you may find that you have their undivided attention when it comes to your winter home improvement project.

Loft insulation

When was the last time you replaced or upgraded the loft insulation in your home? If it is more than five years then the likelihood is that your loft insulation is no longer conforming to current standards. Again, this is a super quick and relatively simple home improvement and, as a winter project, it will also improve the efficiency of your home too. Staying warmer for longer, improving your loft insulation will be the perfect DIY weekend project or, for a professional firm, a day or two at the most.

Landscaping

The garden can be muddy in winter but despite this, sometimes it is the best time to give it a complete overall. This is because the ground is soft with shrubs and trees easier to remove and for any new ones planted, they have chance to become established before their growing season in the spring. Hard landscaping can also be completed during the winter too. Why not consider adding a new driveway, for example?

New kitchen

A new kitchen is also a project that can be completed at any time of the year and once again, you may find that local home improvement companies have plenty of time to create your dream kitchen. With swifter delivery times too, you can expect to have your replacement kitchen up and running within the week. If it’s a bigger project, such as walls being removed and room re-configured to create a luxury kitchen diner, you’ll find this a great time to do it too.

New bathroom

A new bathroom is a great way of adding more value to your home (like a new kitchen) but it is also a great way of enjoying your home more too. A new bathroom can take mere days to remove and fit the new one, especially if you are replacing bathroom furniture and keeping it in its current position. That said, if you want to make a bigger change, then there is no reason why you can’t do this during winter too.

These are just a few ideas of winter home improvement projects. And we can help with them all!
