4 ways to accessorise decking

Decking is delightfully functional, as well as a beautiful addition to any garden but, their beauty also lays in the fact that they can be accessorised in so many different ways to add more interest and more colour.

Here, are just 4 ways of creating character and accessorising the decking at your home…

1. Lighting

Lighting adds even more functionality to a decking, as well as interest from a soft ambient glow. It also means that the decking at a home can be used as the light fades too. Lighting can be added to any steps, as well as hidden under the hand rail, common to most decking design.

Many people also opt to have small lights inserted in to the decking floor; these lights can also be different colour and are great for not only defining the edge of the area but also for adding a soft glow that makes sitting and using the decking at night time a real treat!

2. Seating

Many people purchase free standing outdoor furniture that can be moved from place to place on the decking, a perfect solution for when you have friends now or you decide to eat al fresco as a family.

But there are other options too, of which many customers are taking advantage. For example, why not have a seating are built in, part of the overall decking design? Some people add benching as part of the design, as well as small table or stools across the decking area too.

3. Greenery

Decked areas can look vast and bland; if you do not features built in, it can pay to make the decking platform look too ‘flat’; adding sections, with the use of greenery is a great way of adding character.

You can use climbing plants, sweetly scented that allow the evening air to be filled with their perfume and, you can add coloured plant pots, full of colourful spring and summer flowers to add the much needed colour you were after. But don’t forget that looking out on to a decking in winter at your property need not mean it must look forlorn; don’t forget to add ever green shrubs either at the edges or in the plant pots for all year round colour.

4. Other additions

Have you considered adding a chimnea for warmth during the cooler evenings? Or maybe some speakers hanging off the railings for music during your social gathering?

There are so many ways to accessorise the decking at your home – these are just four ideas. Would you like to know more? Call us.
